Dr. Bryce Holm

Bryce grew up on a small dairy farm in Minnesota where he developed a passion for animals and the sciences. He attended college at Bethel University in the Twin Cities, where he majored in Biology and competed on the football team. He went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota’s veterinary school, where he studied small animal medicine, surgery, and anesthesia. He has a particular interest in dentistry, orthopedics, and senior pet care.

After interning at St. Paul Pet Hospital, he knew it was the place for him! He loves the staff and the community they build together. He has a particular fondness for all the bulldogs, as they never fail to make him smile.

Sarena graduated from North Dakota State University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Veterinary Technology. She has a special interest in preventative health for all of our patients, and she enjoys getting to know each SPPH client and their pets. She has high standards of care for animals, and coming to work knowing she can make a difference in their lives is the ultimate reward.

Dr. Abi Maynard

Abi grew up participating in Civil War reenactments with her family and she says that it was these experiences that made her realize she wanted to work with animals. After working as a veterinary assistant in high school and college, she knew she was doing exactly what she wanted to do. She enjoys fostering the human animal bond and loves educating pet owners so they can be a part of their pet’s care. Abi currently lives in the St Paul area with her 2 rambunctious cats, Ana and Maggie as well as her bearded dragon, Zeus.

Kayla grew up in Minnesota and has always loved all animals. She has been working in the veterinary field since she was 16 and is very excited to be here at St Paul Pet Hospital. She has a special place in her heart for bulldogs, but she loves all dogs. Kayla is the practice manager here at St Paul Pet Hospital and her favorite part of her job is interacting with all the clients and their pets.

Michaela is originally from Seattle, but after spending four summers on staff at Lake Beauty Bible Camp she knew this was her home. She has been working as a veterinary technician for the past few years and feels like she has found her true career calling!

Dr. Sarah Smith

Merina is originally from Kentucky and graduated from Murray State University with a bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology. After graduating, she worked as a veterinary assistant and kennel attendant for several years before making the move to Minnesota in February 2018. She has a special place in her heart for bulldogs. Her favorite part of working at SPPH is meeting the clients and their pets!

She loves working with large animals and believes it is important to educate owners on how to best care for their pet. She has a special interest in dentistry and soft tissue surgery, but her biggest passion is fostering the human-animal bond.

She lives in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood with her two kitty kiddos, Lucy Bean (a sassy, blue-eyed ragdoll) and Marley Bear (a sweet, brown-striped tabby). In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, playing video games, practicing yoga, and spending time with friends and family. She also loves traveling! She is excited to be a part of the St. Paul Pet Hospital community! She looks forward to seeing you soon!

Dr. Kayla Holm

Merina grew up with animals and always knew she would work in animal care. She spent her early years in college pursuing engineering and graphics, but realized her true passion was animal care and decided to change her major. She graduated from Murray State University in Kentucky with a Veterinary Technology degree. She loves meeting her clients and their furry family members, and enjoys educating them on pet health.

She has been with the practice since 2016, and has loved it ever since! She loves the strong sense of community at SPPH and all the staff that feel like family. She has two American Staffordshire Terriers named Xena and Kodak, who she loves with her whole heart.

She grew up on a dairy farm near Watkins, Minnesota and has always been very interested in science and animals. She is a huge fan of breweries, and spends most of her free time at local St Paul breweries with her mini dachshund. She also enjoys reading, going to live music, and visiting with friends! She also loves the variety of cases that she sees in emergency medicine.
